This policy explains what personal information PackBaby collects when you use the website and packing service, why we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it. It applies to the PackBaby website and the packing lists, saved trips and purchases made through it.

2. What information we collect

If you use PackBaby without signing in

You can build a packing list as a guest without giving us any personal information. In guest mode, the trip details you enter and any trips you save are stored only in your own browser, using your browser's local storage. They are not sent to us and we cannot see them. Clearing your browser storage deletes them permanently.

If you create an account

Payment information

Payments are taken by Stripe. Your card details are entered on Stripe's own secure checkout page and are sent directly to Stripe. PackBaby never receives, sees or stores your full card number, expiry date or security code. Stripe tells us whether a payment succeeded and gives us a reference for it.

Technical information

Like any website, PackBaby's hosting and service providers process basic technical information needed to deliver the site securely and reliably, such as your IP address and the type of browser making the request, together with routine server and security logs. We do not use this information to build a profile of you or to track you across other websites.

We do not ask for, and you should not send us, health information, medical records or any other special category data about you or your child. PackBaby only needs a first name and an age band to size a packing list.

3. Why we use your information, and our legal basis

We never sell or rent your information to anyone, and the details you give us to build a packing list — your child's first name, age band and your destination — are never used for advertising.

4. Who we share your information with

PackBaby is run by one person with the help of a small number of established service providers. They process your information on our instructions and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes:

We may also disclose information if we are required to do so by law, by a court, or by a regulator, or where it is necessary to establish or defend legal claims. If PackBaby is ever transferred to someone else as a going concern, your information may be transferred with it, and we will tell you before that happens.

5. Cookies and tracking

PackBaby uses no analytics cookies and sets no tracking cookies of its own. There is one piece of third-party advertising code, the Meta Pixel, and it stays switched off until you actively agree to it.

The first time you open the PackBaby home page or one of our packing guides, you are asked whether we may measure our advertising. If you accept, the Meta Pixel loads and sets cookies from Meta so that a visit can be matched to an advert. If you decline, or close the page without answering, the pixel is never loaded and no request is made to Meta. Your packing lists, your account and your purchases work in exactly the same way either way, so refusing costs you nothing. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat that as a refusal and do not ask.

You can change your mind whenever you like, using the Tracking choices link at the foot of the home page and of each packing guide. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it, and it stops the pixel loading again. This Privacy Policy and the Terms, Refund Policy and Support pages carry no tracking code at all, so you can always read them unmeasured.

The site stores a small amount of information in your browser's local storage — not in cookies — because it needs to. This includes your most recent trip details, any trips you save as a guest, a note of a purchase you have just started so that we can finish setting it up when you return from the payment page, a note of which completed purchases have already been counted so that reloading the page cannot count one twice, and, once you sign in, the token that keeps you signed in. None of this is used to track you and none of it is shared with anyone. You can remove all of it at any time by clearing site data for PackBaby in your browser settings, though doing so will sign you out and delete any guest trips.

Apart from the Meta Pixel described above, PackBaby sets no non-essential cookies, which is why the banner asks about one thing only instead of presenting a long list of choices.

6. Storage and international transfers

Your information is held on servers operated by the providers listed above. Some of those providers are international businesses and may store or process information outside the United Kingdom, including in the European Economic Area and the United States. Where that happens, we rely on the transfer safeguards those providers make available under UK data protection law — such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum — so that your information keeps an equivalent level of protection. If you would like to know where a particular piece of your information is held, email us and we will tell you.

7. How long we keep your information

Where we are required to keep a record for legal or accounting reasons, we keep only what the law requires and delete the rest.

8. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

To exercise any of these rights — including deleting your account or requesting a copy of your data — email support@packbaby.co.uk from the address you use to sign in, or tell us which address the account uses. We will respond within one month, and will tell you if we need longer because the request is complex. Using these rights is free, and we will not treat you differently for using them.

9. Information about children

PackBaby is a tool for parents and carers, and accounts are for adults only. The service is not designed or intended for use by children.

To size a packing list, PackBaby asks for a child's first name and an age band. That information is given to us by the adult account holder, is used only to produce and label that adult's packing lists, and is never used for marketing or profiling. You do not have to give a real name — the name is only used as a label on your list. To delete a child's details, delete the saved trip or ask us to close your account.

10. Contact and complaints

If you have any question about this policy, or you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right:

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's independent regulator for data protection, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint. You do not have to contact us first, but it usually helps.

11. Changes to this policy

If we change how PackBaby uses personal information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If a change materially affects you, we will tell account holders by email.
